POWER8 SPRINTS

Following the success of POWER8 Sprints in 2018, the Thames Region will again look to support this event which will take place on Thursday 21st February 2019. Power8 Sprints will return as the headline act on the water at the Bristol Harbour Festival.

 

The sprint rowing event created by British Rowing sees crews from eight UK cities battle it out over a 350m course through the centre of Bristol in a bid to be crowned Power8 Sprints champions.

 

The TRRC are responsible for selecting Womens and Mens crews to represent London and Oxford.

 

Please see below for selection criteria and information. To allow all those wishing to compete in POWER8s the opportunity the region has been divided along the M25 boundary to the West of London.

 

 

London Selection Criteria for Power8.

 

For the Women's crew, we will be selecting the fastest Thames London based club / university / school at the Women's Head of the River.

 

For the Men's crew, we will be selecting the fastest Thames London based club / university / school at the Head of the River.

 

The club will be contacted 3 days after the official results are announced and will have 5 days to confirm their acceptance to represent London. 

 

If there is no response the next fastest crew will be offered to represent London and will have 3 days to respond.

 

Eligibility to enter Power 8’s

You need to be a BR Racing member
You need to be 16 years of age or older

And any one of the following (as at 20th May 2019):

Born in Thames Region (East of M25 Boundary)
Schooled or educated in Thames Region (East of M25 Boundary)
Current member of a rowing club in Thames Region (East of M25 Boundary)
Resident in Thames Region (East of M25 Boundary)

 

 

Oxford Selection Criteria for Power8.

 

For the Women's crew we will be selecting the fastest Thames Upper based club / university / school at the Women's Head of the River.

 

For the Men's crew we will be selecting the fastest Thames Upper based club / university / school at the Head of the River.

 

The club will be contacted 3 days after the official results are announced and will have 5 days to confirm their acceptance to represent Oxford. 

 

If there is no response the next fastest crew will be offered to represent Oxford and will have 3 days to respond.
